Space elevator's conception

Conception's description

The conception is showed in fig.1 and 2.

Space elevator consists of two parts. The first part is tensed from the Earth up to the geo-synchronous orbit. The second part is tensed from the geo-synchronous orbit to the counterweight beyond it.

The first part is the drum driven elevator. It consists of the moved ribbon. The ribbon represents a loop that is stretched between two drum drives. One drum drive is located on the Earth. The second one is installed on the middle space platform, which is located on the geo-synchronous orbit. This drum drive is the main drive of the elevator.

Ascent and descent of a cargo can be done at the same time. When the right cargo moves up, the left simultaneously moves down.

Tension of the bottom drum drive ribbon is created with help of the counterweight. Forces of the counterweight and the ribbon's weight create ribbon's tension of the top drum drive.

The ribbon's weight doesn't create rotary moment by the drum drive. Therefore the drive's moment is necessary only for ascent or descent of a payload, which is fastened to the ribbon.

The second part of the space elevator consists of the ribbon, which is tensed from the middle platform to the outer space platform (counterweight). Here the payload is ascended with help of climber.

Advantages of the conception

1. The drum driven elevator has a high efficient. It gives profit when a cargo ascent takes a lot of energy.

2. The conception has the possibilities to increase amount of a cargo, which is delivered to space. Generally this drum driven elevator can be created to work continuously as a conveyor. Here is the link for comparison of the loop to the taper ribbon.
